Recently, I messed up my iClever keyboard. I don’t know what I did, but the option key just stopped working. I tried a bunch of things to fix it, and let me tell you, it was a real pain in the neck.

First, I did the usual stuff, like restarting my Mac and checking the keyboard settings. I made sure the keyboard was clean and nothing was stuck under the keys. I opened System Preferences and went to Keyboard settings. I clicked on the Keyboard tab and checked the settings for Modifier Keys in the Keyboard shortcuts. I confirmed the Option key was set to its default behavior.
Then, I remembered something about resetting the keyboard itself. I tried pressing fn+left shift+backspace for 5 seconds, but that didn’t help.
I was about to give up, but then I found an article online that suggested re-pairing the keyboard. It said to press Fn + Esc simultaneously to activate Fn lock. When the Fn lock is activated, the indicator turns blue. I was excited, so I tried it, but it still didn’t do anything for the option key issue.
I thought the firmware might be corrupted, but I really didn’t want to mess with that. I’m not very tech-savvy, and I didn’t want to make things worse. So, I just kept using the on-screen keyboard for the option key, which was a hassle. I hated it.
Finally, I decided to contact iClever support. They were helpful and gave me some steps to troubleshoot, but it was no use. They said it might be a hardware issue and told me to send it in for repair. I was hesitant because I use this keyboard for work every day, but I didn’t have another choice. I sent it in, and they said it would take a few days. They said they would give me a new one if they can’t fix it.
Waiting was awful. But they eventually got back to me and said they couldn’t fix it, so they sent me a new one. The new keyboard works perfectly, and I’m so relieved. It’s like a weight off my shoulders. I have been super careful with the new keyboard, and I haven’t had any problems since.
So, yeah, that was my adventure with the iClever keyboard. It was a headache, but I learned a lot. Like, always try the simple stuff first, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. And sometimes, you just have to accept that things break, and that’s okay. I’m just glad to have a working keyboard again.
