Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about playin’ them Nintendo DS games on that Linux thingamajig. You know, them little games the kids used to play? Yeah, well, you can play ’em on your computer now, ain’t that somethin’?
First off, you gotta get yourself somethin’ called an “emulator.” Sounds fancy, I know, but it’s just a thingy that makes your computer think it’s a Nintendo DS. Like playin’ pretend, but with computers. There’s a couple of these emulator things you can get. One’s called DeSmuME. Sounds like “duh-SMOO-mee,” if you can believe it. Folks say it’s like a Swiss Army knife for playin’ them DS games. Got all sorts of tools and whatnots. You gotta “install” it, which is like puttin’ it on your computer. It’s different for each Linux thingy, so you gotta find the right way to do it for yours.
- They say DeSmuME is pretty good for testin’ out all the fancy stuff the DS could do. I don’t know about all that, I just wanna play my games!
- And get this, you can get it on somethin’ called “snaps” on some Linux versions. Snaps are like… packages, I guess? Got everything you need all in one place. Makes it easy, they say.
Then there’s another one called MelonDS. This one’s “free and open-source,” whatever that means. Sounds like a good deal to me, not havin’ to pay for nothin’. They say it works on all sorts of computers, even that Linux thing. It’s supposed to be fast and accurate, so your games play right. They’re still workin’ on it, but it’s got most of the stuff you need already.
Now, I ain’t no computer whiz, but from what I hear, these emulators can do pretty much everything a real DS could do. They got the CPU, that’s the brains of the thing, and the video, so you can see what’s goin’ on. And the sound, so you can hear all the beeps and boops. They even got the touch screen part figured out, though I don’t know how that works without pokin’ the screen with your finger.
So, if you’re like me and you wanna play them old DS games, you gotta get one of these emulators. DeSmuME or MelonDS, take your pick. Just gotta figure out how to get it on your Linux machine. Ask one of them young’uns, they’ll know what to do. Once you got it all set up, you can play all them games you want. It’s like havin’ a whole bunch of little game machines all in one place, on your computer! Ain’t that somethin’?
Remember, these emulators ain’t magic. They just try their best to act like a DS. Some games might work better than others, and you might have to fiddle with the settings to get things just right. But hey, that’s half the fun, ain’t it? Just like fiddlin’ with the rabbit ears on the old TV to get the picture clear.
And don’t go askin’ me where to get them games, that’s your business. I’m just tellin’ ya how to play ‘em on that Linux thing. Now go on, get yourself set up and have some fun. Just remember to take a break every now and then, your eyes ain’t what they used to be!
And one more thing, these computer things, they can be tricky. If you get stuck, there’s always them internet forums and whatnots. Lots of folks talkin’ about this stuff, just gotta find ‘em. They might can help ya out if you get into a pickle. Now, that’s all I got to say about that.
