Well, let me tell ya, this here Dropbox thing, sometimes it just acts up like a stubborn mule. Won’t connect to the internet, it says. Drives me nuts, it does. Like, what’s the point of having this thing if it ain’t gonna work, right?
First thing I do, I give that computer a good ol’ restart. Sometimes that’s all it takes, you know? Like when the well pump stops working, sometimes you just gotta kick it a bit and it starts up again. Same with this Dropbox thing, sometimes it just needs a little jolt.
If that don’t work, I check that Wi-Fi thingy. Make sure it’s on and all that. These young folks with their fancy gadgets, sometimes they make things too complicated. But the Wi-Fi, well, even I know that if it ain’t working, nothing else will. So I make sure it’s lit up, and if it ain’t, I turn it off and on again. That usually does the trick.
Now, if the Wi-Fi is good and it still ain’t working, then I start getting real annoyed. Next thing I try is closing that Dropbox program and opening it back up. Like slammin’ a door shut and then openin’ it real gentle-like. Sometimes it just forgets what it’s supposed to be doing, you know? Needs a reminder.
And if that don’t work? Well, then I get to uninstalling and reinstalling that darn thing. It’s like when the chickens get into the garden, you gotta shoo ’em out and then fix the fence. Uninstalling is like shooing ’em out, and reinstalling is like fixin’ the fence. Gotta start fresh sometimes, you know?
Sometimes it’s that firewall thingy too. I don’t know much about that, but the young’uns say it’s like a gatekeeper, keepin’ the bad stuff out. But sometimes it keeps the good stuff out too, like Dropbox. So you gotta tell it to let Dropbox through. How you do that? Well, I get the grandkids to do it. They know all that computery stuff.
- Restart computer. Easy peasy.
- Check Wi-Fi. Gotta make sure that’s workin’.
- Close and reopen Dropbox. Give it a little nudge.
- Uninstall and reinstall Dropbox. Start fresh.
- Check firewall settings. Let Dropbox through the gate.
If none of that works, well, then I just give up. Sometimes things just ain’t meant to be, you know? Like when the tomatoes don’t grow, no matter how much you water ’em. You just gotta move on. But usually, one of those things I mentioned does the trick. It ain’t rocket science, this Dropbox thing. Just gotta be patient and persistent, like churnin’ butter. It takes time, but you get there in the end.
And another thing, sometimes it ain’t your fault. Sometimes it’s them Dropbox fellas, havin’ trouble on their end. Like when the power goes out, there ain’t nothin’ you can do but wait for them to fix it. So if you tried everything and it still ain’t workin’, maybe just give it some time. Go have a cup of coffee, maybe eat some pie, and try again later. It’ll probably be workin’ just fine by then.
Also, If you can’t get to that * website, well, that might not be your fault either. Could be somethin’ with your browser, that thing you use to look at the internet. Or, it could be Dropbox itself havin’ problems. Like I said, sometimes you just gotta wait it out.
And if your phone’s internet is acting up too, well, that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms. You might need to mess with the settings, or turn off the Wi-Fi and just use the phone’s data. Or maybe just restart the phone. Phones are like little computers these days, always needin’ to be restarted. And if all that fails, you might have to call your phone company or go to their store. Or even reset your phone, but that’s a last resort, like sellin’ the cow when the crops fail.
