That Blink, Blink outdoor 4, it eat up much data? My boy set it up for me, say it good for see who come around. But I worry it use up all my internet. I don’t know much ’bout these things.

Blink Outdoor 4 Use Data?
That Blink camera, it need internet to work. It use that Wi-Fi, you know. Send picture and such to my phone. I don’t want no trouble, so I ask my boy. He say it need 2 Mbps upload speed. I don’t know what that mean, but he say it how fast internet go out from my house.
They say some camera use little, like 5 Kbps. Sound small, right? But other use big, 6 Mbps or more! Blink, I hear, it use 1-2 Mbps. That seem like a lot to this old lady. What if I run out of internet?
- Blink camera need Wi-Fi
- Use internet to send picture
- Need 2 Mbps upload speed
- Some camera use 5 Kbps, some use 6 Mbps
- Blink use 1-2 Mbps, they say
Blink Camera and Wi-Fi
My boy, he say Blink camera mostly need that Wi-Fi. But, he also say, it can work little bit without it. He call it “offline mode”. Fancy word for no internet, I guess. He say you gotta set it up right, though. Then it can still watch and record if someone move around, even without Wi-Fi.
I don’t know how that work. Maybe it save it somewhere inside? Technology these days, it sure is something. I just want to see who come to my door. Don’t want no sneaky foxes stealing my chickens!
What Use Data on Blink?
That Blink, it use data when it show live video. You know, like watching it real time on your phone. And it use data when it send video it record. So, if a lot happen, it use more data, I think. My street pretty quiet, though. Except for Mrs. Johnson’s dog. That thing bark at everything!
I try to only look at live video when I need to. And I tell my boy to set it so it don’t record every little thing. Just when someone come close to the house. That way, it don’t use too much data, I hope.
Blink Camera Need Good Wi-Fi
My boy say Blink camera need good Wi-Fi. He say it need to be 2.4 GHz. I don’t know what that mean. He say it like a road for internet. Some road is wider, some is narrow. This one is… well, I don’t know. But he say it the right one for Blink.
He also say, the faster the internet, the better. That way, the picture is clear and it don’t take forever to load. I remember those old TV, take forever to warm up. Don’t want that with my camera!

- Live video use data
- Recorded video use data
- More activity, more data
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi needed
- Faster internet is better
Blink Outdoor 4, Is It Worth It?
This Blink Outdoor 4, it do use some internet. But my boy, he smart, he say it not too bad. He say it worth it to keep an eye on things. Especially when I’m not home. Or when I’m taking a nap! I don’t want nobody messing with my garden.
I guess I just gotta trust him. He know more about these things than I do. I still don’t like using up all that internet. But I do like knowing who’s at my door. It make me feel safer. And that’s important, you know? Even for an old lady like me.
So, if you think ’bout getting a Blink camera, just know it gonna use some data. Make sure you got good Wi-Fi, like my boy say. And maybe don’t watch it all day long! Save that internet for other things. Like looking at picture of my grandkids. They sure are cute!
All right, all this talking make me want some coffee. I hope you understand this all. It not easy for an old lady to figure out these newfangled things. But I try my best. Now, where’d I put that coffee pot…?
